Shuttle Service Updates

DuSable Lake Shore Drive Resurfacing Impact on Intercampus Shuttles

The City of Chicago has started a resurfacing project on DuSable Lake Shore Drive between LaSalle Drive and Lawrence Avenue. Due to lane closures and slower speed limits the shuttles do experience delays at various times. Please expect delays and plan for extra travel time when utilizing the shuttle. You track buses using TransLoc.

Undergraduate U-Pass Program

The Undergraduate U-Pass program was a pilot for Winter and Spring Quarters in 2022. Due to low utilization it has been decided that the program will not continue for the 2022-23 academic year. The Transportation & Parking Office does not administer any graduate student U-Pass programs. You need to contact your individual school regarding any questions.

CTA recently reduced the cost of a 30-day pass from $105 down to $75. See the CTA's Fare Information webpage for additional information about that pass.

Evanston Parking Announcements

2022-23 Parking Permits

2022-23 parking permits are available for purchase. As the community returns to regular campus activities, the University has approved a plan to restore the normal full-time parking rate over two years. The plan to normalize parking rates began in fall 2021 and is fully implemented in fall 2022.

  • Student and contractor permits are available for purchase at the Evanston Parking Services Office.
  • Faculty and staff can purchase annual parking through the Evanston Parking Services Office
  • As outlined in the Evanston Campus Parking Policies, temporary permits are non-refundable. Please note temporary permits can be purchased on a daily or monthly basis.

Evanston Campus Parking Garage Gate Equipment Modernization

Parking Services is modernizing gate equipment in the Evanston campus parking garages to improve the process for parkers entering and exiting these locations. The enhancements include:

  • Replacement of parking card readers at the gates in all five parking garages to allow parkers to simply tap their Wildcards to enter and exit versus swiping.
  • New license plate readers at the entry/exit lanes in the North, South, and 800 Elgin garages. Monthly parkers who provide their license plate information to the Parking Office will be able to enter and exit these garages without tapping their parking cards. If your license plate information has changed since you applied for parking, you can update it using the License Plate Update form. Monthly parkers can use their Wildcard as a backup method to enter and exit the garages.

Vehicle Storage

Parking of vehicles for over 48 consecutive hours is prohibited. This includes all holiday and academic break periods.

Contractor parking

Construction contractors for all capital projects are prohibited from parking in all main campus lots. This includes North Garage (# 105), South Garage (# 211) and South Beach two level structure (# 214, 215).
