Assistant Director

The Assistant Director of Student Enrichment Services (SES) reports directly to the Associate Director of SES and is responsible for the programming facilitated for first-generation, lower income (FGLI), and/or undocumented/DACA students. In collaboration with the Associate Director, the Assistant Director will develop programming utilizing research and best practices focused on FGLI student success (including but not limited to research on intersectionality, identity-development, self-efficacy, stereotype threat, and sense of belonging). The Assistant Director will also manage, execute, and assess the Compass Mentorship Program, a cohort-based, year-long peer mentorship program that connects incoming FGLI students with trained 2nd, 3rd, 4th year student mentors. The Assistant Director will also assist with aspects of the Summer Academic Workshop, a pre-enrollment program for incoming FGLI students. SES is one of three units that make up Campus Inclusion and Community (CIC) and provides support to over 1,000 students/year.

SAW Graduate Assistant

The SAW Graduate Assistant (GA) will work in partnership with the Associate Director of SES to support the SAW Counselor and participant experience. The GA will also serve as the Resident Director during the Summer 2023 Program. They will move into the residence hall SAW participants will be housed at the start of SAW Counselor training. During this time the GA will be responsible for the management of the SAW residential experience. 

A successful GA is passionate about the transition of first generation and lower income students to university. They are interested in the leadership development of students and developing community and sense of belonging among students. This position also ask the GA for flexibility, as work hours will include evening and weekends. Finally, in this position you will utilize conflict resolution skills, understanding of diversity and social justice, and the GA will need to be willing to respond to emergency situation 

This SAW GA position starts Monday, July 24– Monday, September 18, 2023. The GA is expected to complete 20 hours each week. The hourly rate is $22 and is paid bi-weekly during the duration of the appointment.  During the program, which runs from August 20 through September 10, 2023, residency on campus will be provided and required and hours may increase due to on call expectations.

SES offers two Graduate Assistant positions. A graduate assistant is a part-time employee directly supervised by one of our full-time staff members. Each position serves as a content expert for one of the following programs:
