  • Want a personal LinkedIn profile? Sign up to join LinkedIn.

Will my Lynda.com learning history follow me to LinkedIn Learning?

  • Yes, if you sign in to LinkedIn Learning before September 19, 2020, one year from the date of Northwestern’s migration, your history will follow you to LinkedIn Learning.
  • If you do not sign in by September 19, 2020, your history is lost, but you still have access.

Can I connect my LinkedIn personal profile to my Northwestern LinkedIn Learning account?

Yes, this is an option. LinkedIn gives you the option the first time you log in, or anytime thereafter.

Why might you do this?

  • Personalize your learning experience. Get recommendations from LinkedIn Learning based on your job title, skills, interests, and industry.
  • Socialize your learning. Post questions to your professional network or join discussions hosted by others on LinkedIn Learning topics.
  • Display your accomplishments. Every time you complete a learning path and course, you will receive a digital badge of completion that can be added to your profile.

Why might you decide not to do this?

  • You may prefer to separate your professional profile from your learning account.
  • You may not have a LinkedIn profile, or have the time to create one.
  • You may need time to retrieve a lost username or password.
  • If you decide to create a new profile, for the very best user experience, log out of your LinkedIn profile prior to activating your LinkedIn Learning account.

Do I have to pay a fee for courses within LinkedIn Learning?

  • Northwestern faculty, staff, and students have unlimited access to LinkedIn Learning through their university affiliation. When you leave the university, you will lose access.
For Learning Administrators

If you link to Lynda.com courses from your web page or syllabus, you should update the URL before the end of March, 2020. Until then, LinkedIn Learning will redirect links to courses that go to Lynda.com, if the course URL ends with the reference to Northwestern: ?org=northwestern.edu.

How to: redirect legacy Lynda.com course links
Append the following to the end of each existing Lynda.com URL: ?org=northwestern.edu. For example, generic links to a Lynda course should be updated.

This should allow users to be taken directly to the Northwestern Single Sign-on page through March 2020. Plan to update links before the end of March 2020, following instructions below.
