Undergraduate Student Lifecycle

Overview

Northwestern University is committed to excellence and diversity. We aim to build a culture in which all students can thrive during their time at Northwestern, from pre-enrollment to post-graduation, as they navigate the University and prepare for their futures beyond campus.

To better support undergraduate students who identify solely or jointly across first-generation, low-income and underrepresented minority (URM) identities, the provost sponsored a multi-phase initiative in 2019 and charged the Undergraduate Student Lifecycle Committee with developing a strategy and framework for a continuum of support for these students. Faculty and staff, including recent graduates, from across the University developed actionable recommendations for change that were approved by the provost in early 2020.  Implementation progress is underway in three priority areas:

  • Faculty Recruitment and Engagement
  • Student Programming and Support
  • Community Building and Professional Development
