Introduction to Restorative Justice with Annie Buth from Northwestern's Center on Negotiation and Mediation. 

For our SAAM kickoff event, we are thrilled to welcome Annie Buth from the Center on Negotiation and Mediation at Pritzker Law School for a conversation about restorative practices. Join us to learn about the basics of restorative justice and to be in dialogue about addressing and preventing sexual violence from a restorative lens.

In support of Sexual Assault and Awareness Month, the Center for Awareness, Response, and Education (CARE), the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX Compliance, and Multicultural Student Affairs (MSA) invite you to join us in a conversation about Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2Spirits. (#MMIW2S, #MMIW, #MMIWG). Explore the complex relationships that create the conditions for violence against Indigenous Women and ways to fight against these conditions.

Keynote from Lydia X.Z. Brown on Disability, Survivorship, and Transformative Justice

Tuesday, April 27, 2021, 4pm-5:15pm

We will wrap up SAAM 2021 with keynote speaker Lydia X.Z. Brown. A writer, educator, community organizer, activist and attorney, Lydia will speak on how transformative justice can lead to harm-free communities. Lydia’s work centers the intersections of disability, queerness, race, gender, class, nation, and migration. Together, we will explore how and why restorative and transformative justice work can move us into a lived reality of a community and society free of harm. This keynote is open to all students, faculty, and staff. This event is co-sponsored by the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX Compliance and AccessibleNU.

Disability and Survivorship: Healing and Discussion Space for the community

Wednesday, April 28, 2021, 6pm-7:15pm

This workshop will address the intersections of disability and sexual violence, barriers survivors face and how allies can better support their loved ones with disabilities. Trauma-informed facilitators from Northwestern and Resilience will facilitate a healing space during the second half of the workshop for survivors and allies and conclude the event with a meditation. This event is co-sponsored by the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX Compliance, CARE and AccessibleNU.

Join us for a conversation about consent and kink practices with award-winning international burlesque entertainer, adult film performer, dominatrix, actor, dancer, writer, and artist Cruel Valentine. This interactive workshop will focus on claiming and reclaiming sexuality with an emphasis on consent and pleasure. A World Where Being Vulnerable IS Being Masculine

• Come and join Masculinity, Allyship, Reflection, Solidarity (MARS) and the Center for Awareness, Response, and Education (CARE) to explore how vulnerability is not only vital to understanding masculinity, but also a key component of violence prevention and allyship. We will be gathering virtually to watch through content related to this year's SAAM theme and later discussing our experiences together in a larger group. Queer Wellness Series, SAAM Edition: Bodywork as a Healing Practice
